Customer comments on this selection. Quickly becoming an Adair fanI'm quickly becomeing a fan of Cherry Adair's books and her T-FLAC series. This installment is set in Alaska during the Iditarod dogsled race. It's an unusual setting for a book, especially a romance, but it is a great background for the storyline. After reading The Mercenary and the Rescue Me anthology, I was worried that Adair's heroines would be too helpless, but Lily was a strong, independent woman who was used to taking care of herself. It was refreshing to see Derek's alpha-male character give her an order then get stared down until he retracted it. She trusts his judgement and he trusts hers. Its a partnership not often seen in romances featuring a strong, dominant man. My only complaint with the story is the use of two villians. Early in the story we learn Lily's late husband was involved in fraudulent sales of bull semen and those involved in the counterfit had hired someone to kill her. We are also given information about a Serbian terrorist who is Derek's nemisis. Lily's villian seems to dominate the early storyline, but during the course of the story the focus transfers to Derek's, leaving the bogus bull semen crime unresolved. I would have liked to have seen Derek's terrorist be a red herring and Lily's hitman remained the focus. Overall I loved the book and can't wait to read more of the series. I do want to state that of the ones I've read, the T-FLAC series titles do well as stand-alones and can be read out of order with little problem.  I'm torn between excellent action and suspense writing and problems with the heroine.I loved the plot and events which included bad guys, the Iditarod race and sled dogs. It was well done with good writing. Lily is a vet and trains sled dogs for the Iditarod races. Both she and Derek are participants in the current race. I enjoyed the story around the Iditarod. Other plots included Lily overhearing a conversation about illegal activities. As a result, bad guys are trying to kill her. Derek lives on a ranch near Lily's hometown. Derek is a secret agent for T-FLAC, a privately funded black ops antiterrorist group. There is a terrorist threat which ends up involving both Derek and Lily. I did not like Lily's attitude and decisions. Six years earlier, she had three dates with Derek. She was so drawn to him and liked him so much that she broke up with him because she was afraid he might hurt her by breaking up with her. Then she marries someone she doesn't love just to get away from Derek. After her husband dies from cancer, Derek wants a relationship with her, but Lily is rude, critical and insulting to him. She does not want a relationship with him for the same stupid reason as before. CAUTION SPOILER: During the race, Derek saves Lily's life more than once from assassination attempts. They begin a passionate relationship. As soon as the race is over, she leaves him, telling him she needs space. He told her he loved her but she didn't believe him, and she continued to fear that he would break up with her. I couldn't handle her stupidity. In addition to Lily's emotional stupidity, a few times in the book, there was a little too much pondering in Lily's mind as to what to do. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: four. My 1 star review for her book "Kiss and Tell" Copyright 2000 was posted on 2/22/08. Last Wright Brother DerekI must say that I enoyed this book alot better than the last two Wright brothers books. Derek Wright fell for Lily Munroe 6 years ago but stepped aside when she fell in love with his best pal Sean. But when Sean and Lily married, Sean started stepping out on her and Derek wanted to say something until Sean was Diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 6 months to live. But 6 months actually turned into 3 years. Lily stood by Sean during his cancer. And Derek Loved her more because of it. Lily saw Derek flying off on trips all over the place. Thinking he was having affairs but in truth he is an OP for T-Flac flying off for missions. Lots of danger, suspense, fast and furious racing across for the Alaskan Iditarod race and super sex scences. Derek and Lily are drawn together during the race. I have to admire the way Lily grows in the book. I had my doubts about her character. But grew to Love her.  Who is Cherry Adair?I don't think I've ever gone into a store and not scoured their book section. Doing so the other day, I saw this book by Cherry Adair. I picked it up, looked at it, put it back but unable to find anything else that looked fun to read, I bought this one. I'd never heard of Cherry Adair. I didn't have great expectations when I began reading it, especially when Derek came right out with the remark about the handcuffs. Well...it ended up I could hardly put the thing down. It had everything that makes for an incredible read. I loved Derek and Lily, loved their chemistry, their dialogue and the plot. Halfway through the book, I was half in love with Derek myself. Perfectly written, it was a sexy hot romance that wasn't nearly long enough. When I finished, I came to Amazon and was happily surprised to see that Cherry Adair has been around for awhile and has a lot of other books out there. I ordered four more books, all in the T-flac series and can't wait for them to get here. Wonderfully written by a wonderful author! Danger, adventure, survival and romance!I have read other T-FLAC novels but none on the Wright brothers when I picked up this story on sale the other day. Lily Munroe is a widow and veterinarian trying to hold onto her husband's ranch in spite of his leaving her in debt and being a womanizer among many other failings. Lily and her stepbrother Matt have hired a private investigator since she found a bank account in the Cayman Islands with a suspiciously large amount on deposit. Lily had known Sean and his partner in the ranch, Derek Wright, for over 6 years. She had even dated Derek first but then switched to the "safer" Sean. Unfortunately for Lily, she soon found out Sean was a womanizer but when she was ready to divorce him, Sean was diagnosed with terminal cancer and so for the next 3 years she took care of him. Lily is a real outdoors woman and has been training dogs for the Iditarod race in Alaska for the last several years. The last couple years she has also trained dogs for Sean's partner Derek. Derek has even beat her at the race! Derek seems to be a rich playboy who flits around in his plane or jet wining and dining all different women so even though Lily feels strong physical attraction to Derek, she resolves not to become involved with him. However, as the Iditarod begins and danger begins to surround Lily, she soon finds that Derek is more than the playboy she thought he was. Derek finds Lily is stronger than he thought and as he tries to protect her from the danger than surrounds him (and her, he realizes that she knew more about Sean's past than Derek had expected. There is lots of danger and excitement as well as romance and some touching family scenes as well. I look forward to finding the other Wright brother books! |
